ANTIBIOTIC REDUCTION STRATEGIES IN POULTRY PRODUCTION: LESSONS LEARNED

Some of the reasons more producers are looking at antibiotic-free (ABF) meat include strong demand from consumers, restaurants and other food service companies; the threat of antimicrobial resistance; and stringent regulations on the use of antibiotics. There are many other good reasons for poultry producers to strive for ABF production systems, including to successfully produce poultry meat without antibiotics. This requires a paradigm shift starting at the parent stock level, with ABF production of hatching eggs.
